Time to Eat Festival

This year it was not just a Fruit Festival - it was an Eating Festival - covering both wild and cultivated fruits and vegetables. A couple of hundred people came; they took away free apples from the Apple-share, they played games (apple-bobbing, longest bit of peel from peeling, flicking-the-pip, and so on), they asked Waterperry's expert for advice and help - and they tasted some truly delicious dishes ( including tomato flan, butternut soup, butternut and walnut salad, tomato cupcakes - and many more) - click here for recipes.

The aim of the Time to Eat Festival was to tell people about eating food gown or growing locally.
Also to:

- encourage seasonal eating, and promote local sources of seasonal fruit and other produce

- consult and gain support for an Edible Area - including the tubs in the Square

- encourage growers

- provide an opportunity to share produce and reduce waste

- promote seasonal fruit and how to use it

- give information about growing and looking after fruit trees – identification, grafting planting pruning etc

- explain the work of GreenTEA
