We are delighted to announce that our next production on 26-29th November 2014 will be "Once Bitten" by Reggie Oliver, adapted from Alfred Hennequin & Alfred Delacour’s French farce "Le Proces Veauradieux".

Fauvinard is a Parisian barrister with no work to speak of, whose formidable mother-in-law noses shamelessly into both his private and business affairs. He and his colleague Tardivaut fabricate a case to create an alibi for their extra-marital affairs. It transpires that both their mistresses live in the same apartment block and that unknown to them, Tardivaut’s mistress Zizi is also involved with Fauvinard’s lecherous and narcoleptic uncle. Fauvinard’s mistress Cesarine meanwhile appears to be an accomplice in a jewellery robbery. When Fauvinard does land a case of his own, his client, who is seeking a divorce, turns out to be the wife of another of Cesarine’s lovers. Add a vengeful maid, a vicious man-hating poodle and a bone-headed Police Commissioner and the result is hilarious mayhem!

The Bartholomew Players cast, which includes four new members along with many long-standing members, are very much enjoyed rehearsing this hilarious French Farce. We do hope you will come along and support Bartholomew Players in this production.

The Bartholomew Players

The Bartholomew Players has been running as an amateur dramatic society for over 30 years.
In that time we have performed many plays including comedy, drama and thrillers, and have taken part in several drama festivals. The group is a friendly one, and includes people aged from 16 to 80 with a huge range of skills. We are always excited to meet new people with an interest in the theatre. The group is also social, and we have regular pub nights as well as going to see plays by other groups whenever possible.

We are in urgent need of more members, especially men, to enable us to select from as wide a range of plays as possible. If you have ever thought about acting or were considering returning to the theatre after “resting”, now is the time to join us. We need you!!!

Help backstage is crucial to the success of our productions; there are roles in set/costume design, publicity, dressing, props, prompt, front of house, stage management and so on - even opening and closing the curtains requires somebody!

Why not come along to one of our meetings and see what you think! We meet most Wednesdays from 8pm - 10pm in Eynsham Village Hall, Back Lane, Eynsham.
